KEVIN STUHLMANN
LEAD PASTOR
Kevin began as Lead Pastor of Doxa on January 1, 2023. He’s a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which is where he also met his wonderful wife of 30+ years, Lori. They are both natives of the Chicago area. He holds the Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and is licensed in the Evangelical Free Church of America. Following a career in Christian book publishing and retail, the Lord called him to full-time vocational ministry, first as campus staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, then to seminary and pastoring churches in Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, and now Michigan. He is passionate about helping other believers see more fully God’s greatness and glory in Christ. For fun, he likes reading, walking outdoors, golf, watching college basketball, and chocolate.

Denny johnson
ELDER
Denny and his wife Laurie have been married for more than 45 years. They started attending Doxa in the fall of 2017. Prior to that he had served in pastoral ministry for more than 30 years. Denny is ordained in the EFCA, has a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Trinity International University and an M.A. in New Testament from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He enjoys bicycling, shooting sports and grilling. His passion for ministry is discipling and equipping adults of all ages for spiritual growth and effective ministry.

Steve Benninger
Elder
Steve and Jen, who have been married for 28 years, started attending Doxa in November 2017. They were involved in Bible Study Fellowship for over 20 years, many of them in various leadership roles, and attended with their three sons. Steve met Jen at the University of Michigan where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He has worked as a Sales Engineer in the automotive industry since 1993. He enjoys life to the fullest, taking advantage of the opportunities and gifts that God graciously bestows on him--teaching Sunday School, coaching wrestling and discipling young men at Oakdale Academy, playing ice hockey, and hiking with his family.

Dave Dewar
ELDER
Dave became a Christian in February of 1992. His wife Julie trusted Christ a few months earlier. Dave and Julie were married in 1984. God has blessed them with 5 children and 7 grandchildren. They began attending Doxa Church in October of 2017. Dave is thankful for the faithful care and attention given to the teaching of God’s Word. He enjoys the opportunity to serve on the worship team and the elder board.

larry Zink
elder
Larry and his wife Gloria were married in 1957; they have three married daughters, six grandchildren, five of whom are married and seven great grandchildren. They have lived in Shelby Twp since 1974. Larry graduated from GMI with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked his entire career with GM/EDS retiring in 1995. Larry and Gloria attended Christ Community Church in Rochester for 33 years where he served as a elder/pastor for 22 of those years until the church was closed in 2017. They came to Doxa in November of 2017. Larry's personal interests include: scriptural study, golf, gardening and pastel painting.

Josiah Holmberg
Music Minister
Josiah and his wife Ariel were married in 2020, and have attended Doxa since 2021. They have one daughter, born in 2023. Josiah has a degree in linguistics from Oakland University, and works as a controls programmer for KUKA Assembly & Test. Music has always been one of his main interests, and he's thankful for the opportunity to help God's people sing His praises through songs rooted in His Word. In addition to playing and listening to music, he enjoys cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with his family.

Marilynn Smyth
Church administrator
Marilynn, a native Michigander, and her husband Jim were married in 2002, and in 2010 were blessed with a son, Daniel, whom they adopted from China as an infant. Marilynn accepted Christ and was baptized in the Baptist church when she was 10, and Jim accepted Christ as a college student. Marilynn is a licensed attorney, and was in private practice as a real estate / commercial litigator for over 25 years until she retired from the practice of law in 2017. Jim, Marilynn, and Daniel began attending Doxa in 2022 after returning to Michigan following a 4-year stint in Portland, Oregon, where Jim grew up. While in Portland, Jim and Marilynn worked in the family real estate business. Marilynn is an outdoor enthusiast, and loves to camp, hike, bike, garden, and read, in addition to being a cross-country / wrestling mom.

Julie Dewar
DEACON
Julie, along with her husband Dave, have been attending Doxa since the fall of 2017. Julie and Dave were married in 1984 They have 5 children, and seven grandchildren. Julie is thankful for the growth in many areas of her faith since partnering with Doxa. She is looking forward to helping encourage women of all ages to get to know, love, trust, and serve God through this special ministry of Doxa Church.

Nora Hoglund
DEACON
Nora and her husband Rob began attending Doxa in December 2016 after relocating to the Detroit area from Texas. Nora and Rob have been married since 2014. They now have two sons. She completed her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Oakland University in 2020. She is passionate about teaching children the Gospel and has loved serving in children’s ministry since she was a teen. What she loves about Doxa children’s ministry is the focus on teaching the children the story arch of the Bible and always pointing them to Christ. She is looking forward to how family ministries at Doxa will grow in the future.
