  • Kyle Bushre

    lead pastor

    Kyle began working with a dedicated team to plant Doxa Church in May 2015. God has developed the Doxa community in amazing ways. Kyle holds degrees from Westminster Theological Seminary (D.Min.), Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.Div. Th.M.), and Cornerstone University (B.S.) Kyle and Rachel have been married 18 years and have two great kids, Samuel and Alethea.

  • Denny johnson


    Denny and Laurie, his wife of 42 years, started attending Doxa in the fall of 2017. Prior to that he had served in pastoral ministry for more than 30 years. Denny is ordained in the EFCA, has a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Trinity International University and an M.A. in New Testament from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He enjoys bicycling, motorcycling, shooting and grilling. His passion for ministry is discipling and equipping adults of all ages for effective ministry.

    Larry and his wife Gloria were married in 1957; they have three married daughters, six grandchildren, five of whom are married and seven great grandchildren. They have lived in Shelby Twp since 1974. Larry graduated from GMI with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked his entire career with GM/EDS retiring in 1995.  Larry and Gloria attended Christ Community Church in Rochester for 33 years where he served as a elder/pastor for 22 of those years until the church was closed in 2017. They came to Doxa in November of 2017. Larry's personal interests include: scriptural study, golf, gardening and pastel painting.

    Jon and his wife Courtney were married in 2013 and have been blessed with two amazing children. Jon graduated from Grace Bible University in 2016 with a bachelors degree in music and biblical studies. He enjoys long conversations over many cups of coffee, wood working and music.   • christine Gibson

    administrative assistant

    Christine is grateful to be part of the Doxa Church family, and enjoys assisting Pastor Kyle. She grew up in Troy and moved to Rochester Hills with husband Kevin in 1992. Before marrying, she spent six years as an Illustrator and exhibit designer for the US Army, and has illustrated children’s books and periodicals since 2000. Recently, Christine designed and managed Rochester College’s year-long Community Mural Project, installed June 2017, bringing the local community together to complete the first poly-tab mural in the state. She enjoys knowing God, making a home for her family, time in nature, bicycling the Clinton River Trail, and the incredible privilege of co-parenting five unique and wonderful children.

    Julie, along with her husband Dave, have been attending Doxa since the fall of 2017. They have been married for 36 years, have raised 5 children, and are now influencing the next generation as their 7th grandchild is due in early June of 2021. Julie is thankful for the growth in many areas of her faith since partnering with Doxa. She is looking forward to helping encourage women of all ages to get to know, love, trust, and serve God through this special ministry of Doxa Church.

    Nora and her husband Rob began attending Doxa in December 2016 after relocating to the Detroit area from Texas. Nora and Rob have been married since 2014. They now have two sons, a toddler born in 2019, and a baby born in 2021. She completed her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Oakland University in 2020. She is passionate about teaching children the Gospel and has loved serving in children’s ministry since she was a teen. What she loves about Doxa children’s ministry is the focus on teaching the children the story arch of the Bible and always pointing them to Christ. She is looking forward to how family ministries at Doxa will grow in the future.
